| Lee Borkman's Biography Lee's early career was largely musical. He sang with the Australian Opera Company, and played keyboards and guitars with many of Australia's most famous bands. Yet throughout all, he maintained an eclectic set of interests, studying computer science and history, making early contributions to the field of "memetics", and eventually winning a rare University Medal and the Australian Postgraduate Award for his work in the philosophy of science. His thesis, The Evolution of Cooperation - Case Studies in the Theory and Practice of Modelling, was a heady mix of ethical and evolutionary philosophy, sociology, mathematics and genetic computing. Although he did briefly teach philosophy at the University of New South Wales, Lee was asked to write the monthly HyperText column for Australian Personal Computer, the country's leading IT magazine, and finally decided to pursue a more conventional career in web development. He has now been consulting for seven years, and is currently "doing a job for the government". Lee has four children, of various shapes and sizes, and takes such an interest in their education that he was, for some time, President of the Montessori Association of Australia. Lee and his family live in the Southern Highlands, on the rural outskirts of Sydney, New South Wales. It's a pretty place. |
